WHAT'S NEW
School 80th Anniversary Dinner -
Fusion Orchestra
Members
of the Serangoon Symphonic Band performed at the Serangoon Secondary School's 80th Anniversary Grand Dinner at Grand Copthorne
Waterfront Hotel on 12th July 2008 with members of the Chinese Orchestra in a piece entitled "Matsuri" by Kitaro. It was the
first time ever that the two groups combined together to form a fusion orchestra.
LAU PA SAT PERFORMANCE - 2007
Serangoon
Symphonic Band performed at the Lau Pa Sat Festival Market yet again on the 18th November 2007 (Sun) to fill the place with
entertaining music such as "YMCA", "Disney Blockbusters" and a chinese favourite "Ke Ai De Mei Gui Hua". It was another
fun experience for everyone!
JUNIOR BAND FESTIVAL - VICTORIA
CONCERT HALL
Our Secondary 1 and 2 students
from the Junior Band had the opportunity to perform at the renowned Victoria Concert Hall as part of the Junior Band Festival
on 12th Aug 2007. It was an excellent platform for performance exposure as it was the very first time the Sec 1 students played
in front of a large audience! Well done!
BAND
EXCHANGE WITH COORPAROO SECONDARY COLLEGE, BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA
The Band had the privilege of
being the host for their very first foreign band exchange with Coorparoo Secondary College from Brisbane, Australia on
22nd June 2007. The students not only had fun interacting with their overseas visitors, they also learnt more about other
possible band genres! All in all, it was a memorable experience for everyone!
MUSICAL NIGHT 2007
The Serangoon Symphonic Band
performed at the school's first Musical Night, showcasing the band's Percussion Ensemble and their ability to make beautiful
music through songs like "Simple Gifts" and "Crocodile Rock". It was an exhilarating night performing for a full house of
audience!
